What is Cellulite?

Cellulite affects 80 - 90% of women, even your healthiest, fittest friends. Genetics, pregnancy, and hormone changes can cause the fibrous, fatty connective tissue between your skin and the underlying muscle to become unusually tight. When this happens, fat cells are pulled into the skin tissue and trapped, resulting in a dimpling appearance on the skin. While there are no permanent solutions or “cures” for cellulite, our advanced treatment options can significantly reduce the appearance.

Types of Cellulite Treatments

Topical Treatments

Some women have experienced a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite using retinal and caffeine-based lotions or creams. Daily use for six months or longer is suggested to determine if topical creams show a visible reduction in cellulite appearance.

Massage Therapy

Targeted deep tissue massage may be able to help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Study results vary on the potential benefits of massage therapy for treating cellulite. Multiple sessions are required, and results are temporary.

Radiofrequency Therapy

Radiofrequency devices (or radiofrequency skin tightening) are used for cellulite treatment through heat therapy. Radiofrequency signals are transmitted deep into the skin, heating the fatty layer below the skin and increasing blood flow to the area. Following treatments, any liquefied fat deposits can drain out through the body's lymph system, which may improve skin tone and the appearance of cellulite.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy may be used to break up or loosen the tightened, fibrous bands of connective tissue below the skin's surface that cause cellulite. Typically, this laser therapy is recommended in combination with other cellulite treatments, such as liposuction, for the most satisfying results.

Am I a

Candidate for Cellulite Treatments?

If you are a woman who is concerned about the appearance of cellulite, cellulite treatments, such as topical creams, massage therapy, radiofrequency or laser therapy, may offer some improvement. Patients should have realistic expectations when considering cellulite treatment. Adults with general good health and non-smokers are the best candidates for body enhancement procedures, both surgical and non-surgical. A healthy diet and regular exercise are essential for overall health and body confidence.
