Rejuvenate Your Forehead with
Brow Lift Surgery
Overview
Summary
Types of Eye Brow Lift Surgery
During a coronal brow lift, the surgeon makes a single incision behind the hairline across the scalp and down to the temporal regions. The surgeon then carefully lifts the forehead and removes or alters underlying muscles and tissue to create a smoother appearance.
An endoscopic brow lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses an endoscope (a small camera and light on the end of a thin tube) to guide the surgeon through several small incisions made in the scalp. Both procedures are used to lift the eyebrows and smooth out wrinkles, but the endoscopic approach is less invasive and typically results in less scarring and a shorter recovery period.
Candidate for Eye Brow Lift Surgery?
The ideal eye brow lift surgery candidate is a person in good physical health who doesn’t smoke or experience excessive sun exposure. Patients considering this procedure are usually looking to resolve one or more of the following concerns:
- Deep horizontal forehead creases
- Pinched furrows above the nose
- Drooping eyebrows
- Heavy upper lids
- Older or tired appearance
Consultation
The Plastic Surgery Center offers brow lift consultations at all of our locations. During your consultation, the surgeon will discuss your cosmetic goals and help determine if your concerns can be improved with a brow lift surgery. Oftentimes, your surgeon may formulate a treatment plan with one or more procedures intended to reverse the signs of facial aging, incorporating a brow lift procedure into the plan when appropriate.

What to Expect
The most common method of brow lift surgery is the limited scar endoscopic brow lift. During the procedure, your surgeon will insert an endoscope (miniature camera) beneath the skin through two or three small incisions to see beneath the skin without making a large, open incision.
Our surgeons also perform coronal brow lifts where an incision is made behind the hairline across the scalp from ear to ear to lift the forehead and remove excess skin from the scalp. Recovery time is often longer than the endoscopic brow lift due to the size of the incision.
Following surgery, patients may experience some pain, discomfort, bruising, and swelling around the eyes and cheeks. This discomfort is relieved by pain medication and usually subsides within seven to ten days. You’ll be asked to keep your head elevated for three to five days, and stitches are usually removed after two weeks.
Most patients are able to resume exercise activities within two to three weeks.
Recovery &
Results
The initial bruising and swelling that takes place following brow lift surgery typically begins to resolve at the end of the first week. Full healing may take two to three weeks; however, you can use cosmetics to cover bruising after about a week to ten days.
To maximize both recovery and results, closely follow your surgeon’s directions, attend follow-up appointments, and avoid smoking and excessive sun exposure.
