Types of Hair Procedures

Transgender Hairline Surgery

Using innovative methods, we can revitalize the hairline to improve comfort, control, and aesthetics. Our specially trained surgeons lower and reshape the hairline for a softer, more feminine appearance or reframe the face with a sharp, defined hairline for a more masculine appearance.

Transgender Hair Transplant

Hair transplant surgery is performed to restore hair to bald or thinning areas. With a hair transplant, the surgeon can increase hair density on the scalp or eyebrow, beard, mustache, and sideburn areas.

For a non-surgical hair restoration solution, ask us about micropigmentation.
Micropigmentation involves positioning thousands of tiny tattooed dots on the scalp to restore the hairline, fill in balding patches, or give the impression of a full head of hair.

What to Expect

Transgender hairline surgery and transgender hair transplant surgery involve moving hair follicles from one part of the scalp to another part of the scalp or face.

The grafts can be obtained by either the Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) or Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method. During FUT, your surgeon will harvest a strip of donor tissue from the back or side of your head. The tissue is then separated into individual grafts that are implanted into the desired area. An FUE involves extracting each graft individually and then placing those into the recipient sites. Both of these procedures are performed under local anesthesia.

Once the donor grafts have been harvested, the surgeon will also use local anesthetic in the area of your face where the grafts are to be implanted. Small incisions are made in that area for the grafts, which are then placed at an angle that matches the natural growth of hair.

Minor discomfort and swelling are relieved by pain medication and often subside within several days to a week. Scabs will begin to form within 48 hours and fall off within one to two weeks. Most patients can return to work a few days following the surgery. We usually recommend avoiding strenuous activity for the first 48 hours and exercise for the first two weeks.

Recovery &
Results

The initial redness and swelling that takes place following your procedure typically begin to resolve within one week. Results may become apparent about two to three months after the procedure, and full results become apparent about 10-12 months post-procedure.

To maximize both recovery and results, closely follow your surgeon’s directions and attend follow-up appointments.
